Luxury skincare brand Clarins just launched a six-month in-store program that offers complimentary make-up applications and photo shoots under a “celeb” experience. Consumers receive beauty tips, product samples, color touch-ups and can participate in a “celebrity moment” on a Clarins Red Carpet Runway that serves up a framed photo and VIP pass with beauty notes from the in-store beauty experts.

“We want to reach all customers,” Violet Lee, senior manager of retail development at Clarins, told Buzz. “Many people think of Clarins as skincare for the mature customer, but we’re really for everyone. Creating a fun and upbeat type of event will attract a younger consumer. We have products for them, too. The 10-foot red carpet and Clarins backdrop makes it feel like a celebrity award event.”

Clarins Invites Consumers Nationwide to Get Red Carpet Ready

Beginning this month, 140 department stores across the US will be hosting in-store events, where consumers are invited to stop in for their complimentary Clarins make-up application and Red Carpet Runway photo shoot. Participating department stores include Nordstroms, Macy’s, Saks, Bloomingdales, Barneys and Lord & Taylor throughout major cities including New York City, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Seattle, Boston, San Francisco and Puerto Rico. Clarins Red Carpet Runway rolls out its first of many events at Plaza Las Americas August 14th, South Center Mall on August 21st and at the Houston Galleria on August 27th. Some people like to watch celebrities walk the paparazzi gauntlet at award shows like Sunday night’s Academy Awards. Other people like to be the ones walking the red carpet.

For that latter group, a Connecticut-based company called Red Carpet Runway has come up with a customized red carpet and backdrop, which “anyone can create, design and order online.” They come in three packages ($199 to $1,200) for different sized corporate or private affairs, including, of course, award-show viewing parties. In a rush? Ready-made “Rug in a Bag” ($99) ordered before 2 p.m. EST ships the same day and can be delivered “as quickly as” customers require, company co-owner Bill Sidarweck says.
